Just another question Brett, with the "view last post" button, is there anyway to make that show when there is an unread post in that thread? Like right now it is just the open envelope, would it be possible to make it like a closed envelope when there is a new post in the thread that you haven't read yet? Just because as it is, you scroll down and look at the time and date of the last post and have to try to remember what time the last post you saw was...

When you look at the topic in the forum you'll see a small box in front of the topic description if there's a post that you have not read.
Click on the box and it will send you to the first unread post.

What skin are you using Allen? I'm using the Esquire skin, on this one it has the little envelope that takes you to the last post in the thread (sometimes, usually it just takes you to the first page anyway). But the envelope is always open, even if there is a new reply that you haven't read...

Yer theres a bit of a glitch there. Sometimes it works going to last unread post and then sometimes it doesnt.

It is a pain in the ass, in know. Its something i have to look into.

Okay guys, a bit of a update on things. I think we will be sticking with the Esquire skin as the default for WCC. It is very flexible to change things.

Currently i have increased the font sizes on a few things so the site is more readable as i think some of it was too small to read.

I have also corrected a couple of display issues which is a bug in the skin. Shortly i intend on playing around with the donate hook on the main page. It needs to be slightly smaller so there is no slide bar when viewing the site in a resolution being 1024 x 768

On another note thinking ahead, i have purchased the program "Community SEO" (Search Engine Optimization Software)

Wasn't cheap but this will really increase the clubs hit response using any search engine on the web. (Google, Yahoo, Bing Etc) Having this program in place enables me as the administrator of the site to index and tag keywords of the website for all search bot engines.

Last night i piss farted around for a couple hours setting it up. Fark its hard! So many scripting edits and sql table setups, its bullshit. I couldn't get it work last night so i will have another bash at it today sometime to see if i can get it crankn. My plan is to have WCC listed as #1 for car cruises in WA on any search engine.

My plan with the donation module worked for the website so this program should give us the same results.

Another idea i have is having a revolving logo for the website. Instead of having the same boring logo for every page, there is a module you can get that can randomly change the logo picture. I thought this was pretty cool. Once we get our pics of the cars done, i will make multiple logos so they change all the time.

Thats all for the moment until i do some more work on the site.

Ok. Bit of a update on things. Ive been doing alot of background work lately and haven't been involved with the forums too much.

Ive been busy getting this new program called "Community SEO" (Search Engine Optimization Software) working with both the server and the board itself. The program community seo required alot of new programs (modules and plug ins) to be added to the server so then it could run the package. I wont go into my Japanese geek talk coz it would just go straight over everyones heads, so ill kept it short. Today the program was finalized for installation and now its just a matter of me setting it up to get WCC with higher ratings on any search engine in the world. This is something im really pushing for the club. Its a timely process setting it up, but i believe it will make a big difference to the response of new people finding us on the outside world.

The website has undergone alot of changes since changing to the equire skin. There are still a few things that need to be changed and thats 1. new logo's being revolving and 2. the ad bar to be a film strip of photos. After this change, i think the website will become more alive.

Hanging in there guys, things are starting to happen in all areas. Its just a matter of time.

Yep thats the one. If you do a search for "west coast cruisers" on google, we are now top of the list.

A few more hours work setting up the program and you find that if you do search's using words like "car cruises perth" "car cruising perth" etc etc, we will start to get higher listings meaning more people will know of us and what we do as a club.

Lets face it, if your not on the first search engines page, you have no chance of anyone knowing who you are. Most people dont even bother clicking onto the second page of a search engine site to see the results.

Okay, getting back to this topic to inform everyone of what is going on about the websites new look.

Well as most know, the board had an upgrade done recently to correct alot of issues that were lingering around in the gallery module. Since doing this, all skin templates need to be updated to suit the new board version. Currently i am waiting for the author of the skins to release there newer version of the skins before i go making any more website design changes. The coding in the skins are different and they need upgrading.

In the meantime, i am creating a new main home welcome page for the website before entering into the forum section. It will be like a friendly greeting page home page for new users to the site and it will also make wcc look more snazzier. Its half done at the moment but its looking good. I just need to write some more php /css script code and then its ready to go live. Scripting code is like trying to read and write Japanese. Bloody hard to do. This gives you an example of how hard it is to do.

Its getting there and thats the main thing.

*UPDATE* Author of the skin is apparently releasing the new version being compatible with the board within the next few weeks. Farrrrk im hanging out to get my hands on it so it can correct all the problems we are having with the current version installed. There is alot of stuff that dont work when you click on it. I just have to be patient.

Film strip of cars will be done soon. I need to get another copy off Rhys of all the car pics again coz the cd's have gave me were a flop.

New skin version also not far away from being released to correct all problems.

After having no luck with getting the author to hurry up and update the esquire skin, i have now decided to use another.
