just cut slits down an old sparkplug and used it to rethread the head. start up the car and watch the shavings go out of the exhaust.

Also another dumb thing trevor did today. left his key under the bonnet to look at the paint code. shut the bonnet then realised he left the keys under the bonnet and the doors were shut and locked. LOL!.
He had no spare key or remote.

Shit!! your Fkn lucky you didn't do any damage, dude! Not a bad idea if you're rethreading a head off the car, wouldn't do it to a head installed though for that reason.

Nice one Trev :P how did you get the keys out?

me n dad changed the timing belt on my (no longer owned) VY executive. undid the alternator bolts, slid it back a bit, sweet timing belt comes off piece of piss. went to put the new one on... wait which way does it go again?

ended up having to call the RAC to come save the day. haha

Timing belt on a VY? I think you mean serpintine belt...

And relax, you're not the only one whos done that before. Best way to do it is draw a diagram of how it runs before taking it off. I did that once, and still managed to put it on the wrong way! No one ever thought it was possible, but I succeeded! :D Worked fine, except the extra stress on the PS pump meant it would slip at full lock. The mechanics were laughing so hard they couldnt yell at me ;)
