Dunno if anyone saw it, but I just watched a seven news and they had a report on hoons and cruises. More sensationilist crap, they made assumptions, generalizations and all the usual shit that the media likes to throw at us enthusiasts. Pretty much they found a cruise map and went to town, saying: "these hoons go from place to place, driving dangerously, speeding and causing trouble."

Anyway we all know how sick to death we are of dickheads spoiling our reputation and the media criminalising our hobbies, but the main thing was they mentioned the city west carpark more than 3 times as "a place were hoons meet". I think we should change our usual meeting spot, thanks to those asswipes doing burnouts and wreckless shit, our usual spot has become to hot I think.

Anyone got any ideas?

Ps I'm fucking sick of this media/government bullshit, that report was so onesided, they didn't give any thought to the fact that there are actually enthusiasts out there to just enjoy their cars, but as usual scum spoil it to the rest of us.

Fully agree Cam, but when they actually catch me doing something wrong is when i will give a shit what the media says about me. I have one speeding fine the whole time i have had my license, and i can guarantee i am a much safer driver than most mums in their 4x4's and all those other ignorant drivers that think they are invincible. To hell with their assumptions and accusations.

If only it didn't mean being discriminated against :(

I think "mothers in their 4x4s" is a bad choice of words in a thread Cam made :P But I agree 110%. Anyone with half a brain should know that what we have with City West is a GOOD thing and YOU SHOULDNT FUCKING RUIN THAT FOR EVERYONE ELSE!!!!!!! I hate the media, full of arrogant arseholes who will do ANYTHING for a story without caring about the actual facts. But everyone knows that! Everyone involved in the car scene knows that, so WHY WOULD YOU GO OUT AND DO STUPID SHIT LIKE THAT IN SUCH A PUBLIP PLACE!!!!!!!!!
fucks sake, some people need to be removed from this earth. Grrrrr. Where else is there somewhere so central??? Ffs

Lol yeh my bad :P

I don't think it's unfair at all. It's so fucking correct.
I live across the road from my son's school and I have to be there to see him safely across every day because these stupid fucking molls won't slow down to 40 while the school zone is in effect. It's gotten to the point now where I step out in front of their cars and cause them to come to a screeching halt. Once stopped I abuse the fuck out of them and the worst thing is they should have half a fucking clue because they have kids of their own.
The funny thing about all of this though is that the "hoons" that drive past in their HPV's are the ones doing the speed limit in this zone while 90% of the mums just don't give a fuck.
I have spoken to the useless cunts at the pig sty to come and park in the area and catch the fuckholes, and after over 2 years of bitching nothing has happened.
They're worse than hoons because there is a massive potential to kill a child trying to cross the road.
To date Mitchell has come close once and another woman had year pre-schooler get away from her and was less than a metre away from becoming a statistic.
You think a mother with children would have some sort of perspective on this but in essence, they don't.

Yeh i live about 50m away from Helena College, if you look at the map in this report, i live on Stanley St there... Teacher dies after being hit by a car outside Glen Forrest school | Perth Now

In that school zone, i think i am the only person that ever goes the speed limit. Not even exaggerating. And it is worse because when parents are picking up their kids from school they all park on the side of the road, and if you are driving through there then you can't see the little kid who has never been taught not to run out onto the road behind a parked car... But nope, it's the people harmlessly cruising around like we were last night that are the bad guys.

Few years go ago cops were outside the Primary School 50m away from my house cos the Police Minister was at the school. My mum got picked up doing 50 cos she was taking me to work, unaware that public schools had gone back to school cos I didnt start until the next day. Anyhoo, it was on the news the next day, about 40 cars got picked up!! Mostly parents, but one was a teacher travelling at 70km/h. Now how are WE the issue??

That reports rubbish, so because some people did burnouts that night doesn't mean that they do it EVERY week like the news reporter states. Nor does this mean we all do. But still these idiots in the vans wtf did they expect would happen that this wouldn't bring attention to ALL car clubs and cruises held by them?

On another note, I agree fully with allen and others. I always go the speed limit in school zones but I still see plenty of people not and 8/10 times they're the mums in mini vans and 4x4's. I almost on every occasion I drive through a school zone have someone right on my ass trying to get me to go faster. But they don't care coz its not their childs life that's at stake. If their child was to be endangered by another driver I bet you there would be an uproar about it.

I really don't think they cared what the consequences were dude, as if they care what happens to other high performance car owners. They drive a modified Hiace, no cop is ever going to pull over a Toyota Hiace suspecting it of being a highly modified vehicle. They know they can get away with that shit.

My favourite bit of that report is when the reporter says "Drivers are warned not to use the freeway, to avoid police". Wtf lol, all it says on that map is "Do not go on freeway". My assumption would be that is to avoid getting lost, not to avoid police lol. Making up absolute shit.

agreed with Mike. She knows fuck all. I have very rarely seen anyone do burnouts at citywest when I was there for cruises. I don't really know about the comparing part. I think its more admiring and giving advice not like something from fast and the furious where one tries to be better than the other. Well at least thats wat I think she was getting at????

That is exactly what she was describing, a scene from 2F2F

"I have been told they come here every weekend to compare cars and do burnouts", yeh well i have been told that the distance of 1km is greater than that of 1 mile, that does not make it true. How about you do some fucking research before doing a report like that?

Martin, its the media. Since when have they ever needed proper facts to run a report like that??

actually the "do not use freeway" part was to avoid the cops, but if the media cared so much for this why were they not at every meet to stop the burnouts cos it was NOT a cruise it was a burnout run at every stop at least 10 cars stopped and dropped skids. and we saw 3 cops the entire night and they stopped watched and left, the only ppl that got in trouble were the Bo$$en crew which were the vans. the media is fucked and needs to learn to include all info before saying that every cruise club is a hoon club. cos im sure they wouldnt like to know that the police watched some of the skids and did fuck all about it. so biased! that clubs only been running for 2 weeks aswell this was there second cruise ever and there quite proud of wat theyve done for the rest of us and there already copping it big time from other clubs now.

Haha I found that report quite funny. The news really is bullshit and a complete waste of time, so I just fuk about in the shed instead. I can agree with some parts of it tho, some cruises are dangerous. I am yet to go on a safe antilag cruise.
Last nights cruise was definately the safest I have been on. Was good.
I vote for the rear carpark of burswood btw. Perth wrx always meet there and it has the bonus of not having speed bumps, easy access to the freeway( tunnel yee) plus gt east hwy. Also plenty of petto stations around and a giant casino! :)
