Ok, just went for a quick 5 minute drive to take some videos so i could show you guys what it is doing. I apologize for the filming, i was using my phone to film and trying to work indicators and turn the steering wheel as well, so some of it is a bit all over the place... Also please keep in mind that this is what the car is doing, i am not tapping the accelerator or anything to make it do anything, i'm driving normally. If you turn the volume up a bit then you can hear what the engine is doing (important).

This is the first video. In this video i had just started the car, so this video shows what the car does when it is cold:

Now this is the second video. This was about after 1 minute of driving, notice the revs at the very start of the video... Then i accelerate a bit and you can clearly see that the car drives fine all the way to redline:

This third video is after about 3 minutes of driving. When it goes to about 3.5k rpm is when i changed into 3rd gear to show you that the car drives fine when decelerating. Then i turn a corner and accelerate to 4k rpm, car still drives fine then. After about 0.37 seconds into the video is when you need to turn the volume up a bit to hear the engine. Notice how it lurches? That is the car, not me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrQc41k3bWA

This is the 4th video, after about 5 minutes of driving, i had got back to my house and was sitting in the driveway. This is how it idles after just a quick 5 minute drive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5arHn86sXqM

So just to summarize, car idles fine when first started (was a little bit rough initially, but after about 5 seconds it came right and sat at 1.5k rpm which is when i started filming). But then while driving the car lurches if you have the throttle slightly open to cruise. Decelerating is fine, doesn't lurch at all. Acceleration is fine, doesn't lurch at all. But if you sit on the throttle a little bit just to maintain your speed, then the car lurches like in the 3rd video.

What do you guys think?

I'm going to hazard a guess at possible TPS issues, but I cant be 100% sure, obviously. Best thing to do is try and swap it with one you KNOW works, so if the 34 one fits on the 32, maybe through yours on Martin? Its at your house either way. I wouldnt have thought a vacuum leak would make it THAT bad.

got the 25 init now, now my next issue, how hard is it going to be to get it rego'd with the 25 in?
i downloaded the form and it says:

If the configuration of the engine has altered to the extent that the number of cylinders, RAC horse power rating or fuel type has
altered, then the vehicle must be presented for examination and a CERTIFICATE OF INSPECTION COMPLETED.

does this mean i have to have my 32 inspected?

Work out the RAC horsepower dude:

D^2*n/2.5

D = Bore in inches
n = number of cylinders

I believe the RB25DET has an 86.0mm bore and the RB20DET has a 78.0mm bore, anyone correct me on that? If that's correct, you can already see it is going to have a different RAC horsepower rating. But just to make it easy for you:

RB20DET RAC horsepower rating = 3.071^2(6/2.5) = 22.63
RB25DET RAC horsepower rating = 3.386^2(6/2.5) = 27.52

So yeh man, will have to get it engineered. RAC horsepower rating is such a stupid, old school, inaccurate way of calculating engine power. It's really only used for tax purposes.

As long as it has been done properly and not going to cause anything that could damage the car like fire/crash, JustCar will cover you if you notify them of the swap.

Fill out the change of engine number form, if they send you a letter saying you need to get it inspected then you can worry about it.

Yeah, do that. Then just drive it around til you're forced to do more. I've never been asked to pop my bonnet or given a sticker, so you may never! Doubtful, but no point worrying yourself about nothing just yet.

Haha Tom, we are doing a shoot yeh. Original plan was for my car, but then it evolved into being Socs' C210, Walker's R31, your R32, maybe Rhys' R33, and then my R34.

It was mentioned, wasn't aware he was definitely coming though. Can we curb it there for now? Too many cars means too much time, gets extremely painful for me, and not enough shots of each car. Although the pain aspect isn't so bad anymore, I'm getting used to it :)
