I have been doing a little research for the conversion I'm going to perform so I thought I'd throw what I found into a thread to ease the suffering of anyone who is pondering going down the same line.
I have a 1993 LN130 Hilux auto, which is pretty much a good starting platform.

Here is a link to the machining required for the transmission:

TRANSMISSION MACHINING

And here is a link for literally everything else you'll need to know:

UZSWAP.COM

When I do my conversion I'll document everything I do and post it up in this thread.

First thing's first, I'd better find a front cut from an auto Celsior......

Well the plans have changed due to a major find.
Another user has pointed me in the direction of his sister for another Surf exactly the same as mine but the top of the range model. The only issue is that the engine in it is fucked but I got it for $2,500.00 as is. Can anyone say BARGAIN!
As my Surf's engine was on it's way out I was going to throw the V8 into it and risk driving it around uncertified until the pigs defected me, then I was going to strip it and turn it into an offroad only dune killer.
Now the plan is to rebuild the engine in the new acquisition and when it's up and running, rip the engine out of my current ride and rebuild that, then sell it off. This means no V8.
Diddums.
But in the end I'll have a brand new 4x4 which being a diesel will last me a long time.

Gday Allen,

Had a peak at a Hilux ute with a 1UZ-FE V8 fitted today.
It's a comp truck out at Ultimate 4WD in Canning Vale. They also had a shorty Patrol with a VL Turbo six (and huge snail hanging off it)

The blokes out there were interested in WCC for the 4WD cruise section.

It'd be nice to do it, but this new car is too much of a pearler to fuck with. I know I can do it legally but the costs would be enormous and outside of my budget with everything that I'm into at the moment.
Maybe later, but for now I shouldn't.
