Hey guys,
Thinking about getting my bike licence, just wondering what bike you guys think I should buy. As it's my first license, it'll have to be 250cc, and as it's mine, it'll have to look fast (and if it had a bit of poke, that'd be nice to!) and finally, I'm not the highest paid here (apprentice mechanic) so it'll have to be cheap.

Throw me some suggestions, guys! And any information on anything to do with bikes would be great. I know a lot of cars, but fuck all about bikes!

Hahahahaha that's the funniest thing ive seen all day. Ahhh thank you Brett lol.

Anything a little less gay lol. Ummm my mate had a 2006 Kawasaki GPX 250, great bike! Was very quick, although they probably look faster than they are. He took me for a ride on it once, cruised at about 160. They go for about 4-5K these days.

I also recommend Kawasaki ZZR or ZX 250's, they are good bikes. Just stay away from CBR's, old ZX2's, things like that. Honda CB's and CBF's are also very good bikes, but the GPX will be your cheapest option, those other bikes are getting a bit more expensive.

My 2c :)

Whats wrong with the CBRs? I see you've got one? I was thinking about a Ninja, but I'm guessing they're too expensive?

Haha damn that info. I don't have a CBR, its my mate who owned the GPX that has one. Just that when i was filling in the info when i was creating my account it wouldn't let me go on to the next screen until i had filled in the bike part  So i just put in my mates bike seeing as its parked at my house so much anyway. For some reason that came to me before the idea of putting "none" did lol. I just haven't tried to change it since then...

Anyway, CBR 900 Fireblade's are awesome bikes. But CBR 250's are expensive and few and far between, very hard to find parts for. Ninja's are also good bike's, but as you said, expensive.

Lol yeh take your time with it, especially if you don't know much about bikes. There are a lot of dud bikes out there, same as cars. And don't be tricked into thinking 40000kms is low on a bike, their engines don't last long... I would ideally look for around 20000

How do they stay so low in kms? I've never understood that! Lol. I wish my 33 had 20,000kms.

People trade them in. The kind of bike you are looking for doesn't last very long, their engines are made to go fast not cruise.

Compare a sports bike to a Harley or something like that and they will have much lower kms because that is what people use them for. Sports bikes are like sports cars, people don't do much cruising on them and because they are fairly cheap they can afford to trade them in and get new ones without doing many kms. Harley's on the other hand are made for cruising, they will be fine at much higher kms.

That being said, there are lots of bikes out there with high kms, don't get me wrong. You just don't want to be paying 4K for a bike with 40000kms on it, keep looking because that is like buying a GTR for 13k. Money pit

Hahaha. I bet you do! :P At least you have room for them all, I live at home with my parents and they don't want me to have more then one car... But I'm sure I can get away with two cars and a bike!! ;)

Bike will cost you less... 4WD's are constantly breaking if you actually take them 4WDing... If you get a bike first then it will be cheaper to run around than the Skyline and you can save up for a 4WD faster

Going for a full road bike. Never been a fan of road trails, much rather go 4WDing.
