hey people, was wondering if i could pick some brains and thought id make a thread about this instead of packing the shoutbox up.

right, so i got my car back from autoworx today atlast! (yes 4 days seems like eternity).. after getting said vipec v44 fitted and tuned, the dyno graph has shown a 255.7rwhp as of today. heres the funny thing, i have another graph from the same dyno (Dyno Dyanmics) at autoworx showing 261.6rwhp which was done a good 4-5 months BEFORE the vipec upgrade. on both occasions the graphs/dyno runs were taken, the boost was set to 12psi and no other alterations or changes were made inbetween, besides the vipec ecu...

after giving it a thorough drive i can say it is quicker, especially noticable at higher rpms when going up through 2nd and 3rd, doesnt smell as bad as before, stopped loud gurgling on deceleration, oddly doesnt drone as much as it did before.. so that is a plus and puts a smile on my face, but i have to say i am a bit disappointed at the end power figure. lol i mean minus 5 rwhp after getting an ecu upgrade?

mods mods mods:

stock fuel injectors
stock turbo
fmic
pod
splitfire coils
denzo sparks
hks eve-s boost controller
vipec ecu
screamer pipe
xforce 3in cat
3 1/2in exhaust with cannon
walbro fuel pump

now my questions are, does this end power result (255rwhp) seem low for the mods i have? and could it possibly be something to do with my screamer pipe/wastegate setup? (owner of autoworx, Alistaire thinks they can play up sometimes and could be causing power loss due to insufficient back pressure)

Or, could it be to do with the tune?

i have pics of dyno graphs uploaded but i cant figure out how to insert it into the thread lol

any feedback would be appreciated, cheers. :worship:

Alistair tried to tell me my rich and retard function was the result of a poorly running car that desperately needed fixing. In fact, it was because it was a 40C day and the car was obviously trying too cool down by running rich.
I wouldnt listen to what that fat dippstick says. The turbo produces enough back pressure, the rest of the exhaust doesnt matter all that much.

My best suggestion would be to take it to a trusted tuner and get them to double check it. My choice would be (In this order)

AllStar
OvaBoost
C-Red
X-Speed
Hyperdrive

Best of luck man! And remember the number on the top of the page is just that: A number ;)

I'd also say autoworx reads slightly low?
In anycase, he's leaned it out so no more popping...

X-Speed over Hyperdrive? In fact... X-Speed at all? Talk to Tiddy and Isaac about X-Speed... I rate them on the same page as Autoworx.

But yeh, I don't see how a turbo car needs back pressure, the turbocharger is creating back pressure with the turbine, any back pressure after the turbo just causes turbulence and slows exhaust flow, as well as creating excessive heat.

Sucks about losing the gurgling from the exhaust on decel, hopefully I don't lose mine and the backfire when cold when I get mine tuned :(

Posting both dyno charts would help though, if you can?

cheers guys.

Ant is one of the best tuners in Perth. The reason I didnt put them higher is cos Luke is NoR and X-Speed in SoR. Dunno why I put X-Speed over C-Red though...

You didn't? lol.

He may be a good tuner, just like Ben and the boys at KYP are good mechanics...

Funny how you got that boost drop at 15psi on the first dyno chart, but not as badly at 18psi.

What ecu did you have before hand? No way you were running 18psi and 260rwhp on the stock ecu? You have got a much nicer power curve with the ViPec, but I don't understand what the other line is. Is that before they installed the ViPec? Really annoying that the first chart they gave you is Psi, the second one is afr. Makes it hard to compare.

Ahhhh sweet, that's better :)

Still experiencing that boost drop, but at higher boost level this time. Strange... Is the boost being controlled with the Eve-S or the ViPec now?

Anyway, at high boost it is a nice curve. No real indication there as to why you are making less power. What ecu were you using before the vipec?

was using the stock ECU beforehand.

ah, well i think on the before graph with 261hp, the green lines are after and blue is before, if that makes sense haha!
though on the after graph with 255hp, the blue lines are after and the green is before.

no wouldnt have been 18psi. they know better than that i think hehe. both the graphs had the boost cont set to 12 psi. or were meant to be at 12 haha. yeh it goes a bit wobbly hey.

Yeh nah my bad, misread the chart. It all looks ok, apart from the spike and the power loss which has now been ironed out with the ecu, so was probably r&r.

Or, could it be to do with the tune?

It may be a safe tune. Talk to the dude who set it up and ask.

The turbo produces enough back pressure, the rest of the exhaust doesnt matter all that much.

Huh? Try dropping a 4" exhaust on and see how you go.
As far as screamer pipe leak is concerned, it shouldn't be a factor as long as it has a decent divorce setup.

My best suggestion would be to take it to a trusted tuner and get them to double check it. My choice would be (In this order)

AllStar
OvaBoost
C-Red
X-Speed WTF???????????????????????
Hyperdrive

hey Allen, i asked Alistair (manager/owner) if it was a conservative tune (not entirely sure if he was the one who tuned it) and he sort of went 'Hmnnaaah.. Just the way it is really, all skylines are different ya know"

ten four is right, i think these dyno dynamics read slightly lower than most other dyno's.

..anyone selling a 3in split dump pipe? :whistling:

Lol and like I said, Ben is a good mechanic, would you take your car to KYP though?
