Welcome! Hopefully we'll see you on a cruise soon. If that weak SR holds up that is... :P

Thanks....Back when I was going through the problems I was starting to think I had made a mistake. Now its PERFECT and I wouldn't have it any other way. I actually bought the silvia to be a cheap daily, just turned out I fell in love with a turbo. The best part is the cops leave me alone as prior to me owning it had more inspection receipts than service history lol.

It was originally an SR20 but new engine (SR20DE) 4 years ago(18X,XXX kms)and a t25 turbo will hopefully last me for ever :D

Really looking forward to upgrading my membership so I can come on the financial members cruises :)

Allen, just a running joke between myself, James and a few others. They don't believe me when I say that the CA is the engine of choice over the SR.

Oh thank fuck, I thought you were serious! Just cos they LOOK like mini RBs, doesnt make them as good! Plus we all know how much I hated mine!!! Haha. SR20s are awesome motors. As long as you dont rev it too hard, it'll be pretty strong.

Hi Ree. I'm new here too. Sounds like you are one VERY reasonable person - you've got the Holden history, don't mind being caught in a Ford, and patient enough to go imported-spec! hehe but seriously as the others have said, enjoy the site, & we'll see you out on a cruise some time B)

Yup, the CA's are definitely a highly underrated engine. In saying that though, the SR's weak point has been addressed with stronger main caps and girdle. 8-900hp is reliably achievable with the right equipment and supporting mods.
I've not seen the CA reach these numbers but I'm still a big fan.

I'll be sorting that as soon as I clear this inbox. Sorry, but the day has been somewhat hectic with my arrival back in Perth.

You have to expect this kind of effort for a vehicle this age.

Once you iron out all of the rough spots, she'll be a happy camper.

Hang in there!

Just be easy on it, it'll be ok :) Like Allan said, you'll smooth out all the issues soon and it'll be free sailing. Old cars do that. Especially cars like Silvias that have usually had a hard life :( Best of luck with it all, though

Agreed with all above, my car has continual annoying expensive problems. Maintenance is the key to prevention also. just saying, not you specifically.
